Project Leader, Net Zero

Nelnet Renewable Energy

Scot Bearss is the project leader for Nelnet Renewable Energy’s Net Zero business line, which helps educational institutions realize energy savings and resiliency through carbon neutrality planning, asset deployment and financing. Prior to Nelnet, he worked at Yale University for four years, largely in the sustainability office, where he led communications and outreach, and also developed department-specific sustainability action plans. Bearss earned his project management professional (PMP) certification in May of 2022, with over 10,000 hours of project management experience. He is currently enrolled in Yale University’s Financing and Deploying Clean Energy certificate program, with an expected completion date of May 2023.
