Mission-Anchored Compensation Strategies

Mission-Anchored Compensation Strategies

When it comes to hiring, independent school business leaders face two perennial challenges: one, recruiting and retaining quality employees in a competitive job market and two, carefully stewarding a school’s largest expense, faculty and staff compensation, in support of a healthy business model.

NBOA developed a suite of resources to help school leaders better understand the compensation landscape, see a range of innovative practices and imagine how they might innovate their school's compensation system. These deliverables stem from the first major analysis of compensation systems within independent schools across the U.S. and the world, which NBOA conducted in 2023.

Thanks to Edward E. Ford Foundation's generous support of this work, anyone in the independent school community can access the following resources below, as long as you sign in with an account (no membership necessary):

  • Research findings
  • Implementation guide
