Effectively compensating the employees who deliver your school’s mission every day is critically important to its health and stability and must be balanced with a financially sustainable system. Adapting these practices as priorities change is healthy and essential for any school, but in practice, changes to a school’s compensation system can rock the cultural foundation of a school. When these changes are made in harmony with the school’s culture, however, they have the potential to fortify those cultural practices and provide financial and emotional support to faculty and staff for decades to come.
In this workshop, NBOA subject-matter experts will discuss with participants how compensation models currently found in schools can reflect the school’s culture and provide support for its mission and strategic goals. New and updated case studies from NBOA’s Mission-Anchored Compensation Strategies research and guidance will provide concrete examples of how schools are addressing challenges and incorporating culture into compensation work. Participants will receive guidance on the considerations each school should make when exploring, developing and implementing a new compensation system.
