Balancing families’ needs with school budget constraints can be challenging when it comes to sustaining a financial aid program and remaining mission aligned. It is important for schools to define their financial aid philosophy and establish processes and parameters that both help school leaders execute the program well and support families well beyond the initial admission process. During this workshop, you will learn best practices, how to address recent economic shifts, and use tools that will help you tackle the complex challenges associated with financial aid programs. The session will empower you with the skills and resources needed to navigate difficulty in prioritizing awards as you address complex files, enhance your financial aid policies and procedures, and contribute to achieving critical schoolwide goals, like maximizing net tuition revenue and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Join us for this interactive Zoom workshop in which you will:

  • Explore the tenets of the best financial aid programs to affirm your school’s financial aid philosophy and ensure its effective execution when put into practice.
  • Become familiar with key levers within the financial aid formula that allows schools to apply an equitable calculation across family applications. Discuss an annual review of the formula and any exceptions to it, to ensure that all calculations accurately reflect the needs of the families you serve and allow you to make informed decisions about aid awards.
  • Outline a financial aid policy guide related to the mission, vision and philosophies at your school and determine next steps to implementation.
  • Learn current trends impacting independent schools and families supported by financial aid, including how to navigate complicated aid applications.
  • Work through case studies.
