What Can Schools Do About ‘Quiet Quitting’?

(from EducationWeek) Within the past few weeks, “quiet quitting” has become the latest pandemic-driven catchphrase, right alongside the more established “Great Resignation.” Quiet quitting encompasses a range of behaviors that correlate with employee disengagement due to a general lack of career growth, poor pay or feeling burnt out. Education Week talked to some educators about factors that could lead to negative behaviors associated with quiet quitting, as well as practical solutions that include:

  • Encouraging educators to set boundaries with parents around communication norms and school protocols. 
  • Encouraging educators to ask for help and acknowledging that work outside designated hours can become mentally taxing.
  • Building a positive work culture from the top.
