New Research on Teacher Turnover

(from the Washington Post) New research drills down into where teacher shortages are worst and why it's happening. Shortages are worse in areas where teacher pay is lowest. With increased registrations in teacher prep programs over the past couple years, shortages may lessen in time. Underqualified teachers who are not trained with classroom management skills are more likely to turnover more quickly. Changing schedules to give teachers a four-day in-person work week and engaging teacher apprentice programs have helped schools fill positions.
