Better Training for Department Chairs

Most higher-ed department chairs receive inadequate training in the business as well as “soft” skills that are needed to run harmonious and productive departments, as well as to succeed in further administrative roles. Training should be initial as well as ongoing — advice that is relevant for independent schools as well.
