(From EdWeek) A recent AI-generated deepfake of a public school principal making hateful comments has educators' vulnerability to AI misuse. The principal was placed on administrative leave while the police and district authorities investigated. Through AI expert assessment and a polygraph test, it was conclusively shown that the principal did not make the statements in the audio. Nonetheless, the incident has sparked concerns among school leaders about the ease of creating deepfakes and the potential for costly investigations, reputational harm and legal consequences.
