(From Education Week) With peak flu season just around the corner, the CDC is warning parents and schools of a heightened risk of infectious diseases, including flu, this year as national vaccination rates for kindergartners continue to decline. From the 2019–20 to the 2021–22 school year, national coverage with state-required vaccines among kindergartners declined from 95% to approximately 93%. Exemptions increased in 40 states and DC, with 10 states reporting an exemption for over 5% of kindergartners. Schools and providers should work to ensure that students are vaccinated before school entry, such as during the enrollment process, urged the CDC.
