Proposed Changes to Title IX Regulations

Jun 28, 2022, 2:18 PM

(from the Washington Post) On the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the Biden administration proposed sweeping changes to the landmark law that would bar schools, colleges and universities from discriminating against transgender students, as the battle over transgender rights moves to the front lines of the culture war. The proposal would also amend the rules that govern how educational institutions investigate and resolve claims of sexual assault and sexual harassment. If the proposal is realized, it would compel schools to accommodate transgender students by allowing them to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity, ban bullying based on their gender identity and ensure they are addressed by their correct pronouns. Schools that do not rectify the problem are subject to investigations and risk losing their federal funding.
