Gallup Finds Teacher Burnout Persists Despite Workplace Positivity

Jun 17, 2025, 9:12 AM

(From EdSurge) A new Gallup and Walton Family Foundation report reveals that while most teachers are satisfied with their workplace, over 90% report feeling burnout. About 70% feel supported and clear on expectations, yet only 42% are satisfied with work-life balance. Fewer than half are content with their pay or advancement opportunities. Nearly 20% may not return to teaching next year, and about one-third are unsure about staying in K–12 education long-term. Black teachers were more likely than others to be uncertain about returning or to consider non-teaching roles. The findings highlight growing uncertainty amid ongoing teacher shortages.
