DOGE Threatens Big Cuts to Education Data

(from the Hechinger Report) Vital data collections at the National Center of Education Statistics have been cancelled, following interventions from the Department of Government Efficiency, which is not a cabinet level department but a federal government unit that was originally called the United States Digital Service. Congress mandates a June 1 NCES report on the condition of education. This year, it’s not clear how much fresh data will still exist.
