Districts Fail To Disclose Cyberattacks

(from WIRED and the 74) 2023 was the worst year globally for cyberattacks against schools -- a 70% surge from the year before. School districts with cyber insurance have proved willing to pay ransomware attackers, which may be fueling the increase. Investigative reporting by WIRED and the 74 claim that districts have misled community members whose data has been exposed in attacks in an effort to prevent lawsuits, leaving cyberattack victims uninformed about the true nature of the incidents.
