CDC Calls for Measles Immunity Checks at Summer Camps

Jun 17, 2025, 8:07 AM

(From CBS) The CDC is urging summer camps to check measles immunity documentation for children, staff and volunteers amid a near-record outbreak. Measles spreads easily in camps due to close contact and can cause serious complications. Camps should decide whether to allow unvaccinated individuals and prepare for possible outbreaks by stocking face masks and setting up isolation spaces. With 1,197 confirmed cases in 2025, the U.S. is close to surpassing its 2019 record of 1,274 cases. Measles was declared eliminated in 2000, but rising infections highlight the need for vigilance in camp settings.
