If you’re reading this Net Assets article online, you already know: This issue is about more than a new cover. Over the past several months, we’ve shifted to a digital-first publishing approach. All articles in this print issue are already online.

We’ve also shifted from a bimonthly print publishing schedule to a quarterly print schedule, in response to what you, our readers, said in the reader survey conducted last spring. The majority of respondents said they continue to want print, just not quite as frequently.
That survey and a broader survey around NBOA content we conducted this past summer reinforced what we’ve long known: that our readers are busy, and that it can be hard to keep track of the many resources NBOA has to serve school leaders in different roles and at different types of schools. The research also underscored how much return NBOA members get from the community — NBOA’s greatest strength is the professional relationships and learning that multiplies among peers.
With these findings in mind, NBOA’s editorial team has focused on three Cs in this redesign:
- Being concise (easier said than done for people who love words!)
- Cross-pollinating relevant content (connecting articles to other relevant resources)
- Highlighting the community (more fun facts, short profiles)
We’ve also brought more brand elements to the pages of the print issue, to reinforce our rebrand to NBOA: Business Leadership for Independent Schools. We are an association that serves not only chief business officers but also every other role that handles school business, and we are a stronger collective as a result.
Finally, you will see significant changes in NBOA’s newsletter, Net Assets NOW, starting in early March 2026. We are launching a new newsletter exclusively for members, NBOA Engage, that comprehensively highlights opportunities to tap your membership at no additional cost — be it through webinars, chats, timely resources, NBOA Connect conversations, BIIS tools, topical toolkits and more. Net Assets NOW will continue to focus on editorial content, through thought leadership, trend analysis, research and case studies, while connecting Net Assets articles to related resources around key issues.
If you have feedback about these changes or simply want to connect or contribute, don’t hesitate to reach out at netassets@nboa.org. We love to hear from readers and members.
