Title: Director of Finance

Years in current position: 6

Years in an independent school business office: 6

Superpower: Financial aid — not only handles tuition applications and finances for 1,200 students, but also personally meets with more than 100 families every year to see if they can afford a Calvert Hall education.

Firm hand: “At times she has to make very difficult decisions when a young man has to leave the school. However, she does it with dignity, compassion and an empathetic heart.”

Soft heart: “For Jean, numbers are not just numbers. They have a heart and a face.” Last year when a junior was going to have to leave the school, she approached several charitable organizations to find funds so the student could stay. This is just one of many examples of the lengths Jean goes to help families at the school.

Before independent schools: Worked 21 years at Catholic Charities, which represents agencies around the U.S. that serve the most vulnerable, regardless of religious affiliation, by providing disaster relief, affordable housing, health services, immigration services and advocacy.
