School: Marlborough School

Superpower: Project pioneer: Nick Hernandez has overseen the complete transformation of Marlborough School’s campus, updating or rebuilding every building to meet both current and future students’ needs. From a turf field and a new café to a modern performing arts center and underground parking, Hernandez has guided multiple projects to ensure students have everything they need to succeed.

Data-driven: Known for using financial data to explain the business office’s goals and vision, Hernandez “combines financial acumen with a deep, mission-based care for our school,” according to Jennifer Ciccarelli, human resources manager at Marlborough. His attention to detail “ensures that Marlborough has the resources to support every member of the community.”

He never loses his characteristic good humor.

Leading with laughter: “Nick Hernandez is known and admired by all! He combines consummate professionalism with a keen sense of humor and characteristic warmth,” said Ciccarelli. “He never loses his characteristic good humor.”

All-in, all the time: Hernandez is always well-prepared for meetings and quick to offer help. “He sets the bar high and is all-in all the time.”

Other duties as assigned: In multiple instances, Hernandez has stepped in to oversee advancement, HR and IT responsibilities. “Anytime there is a void, Nick willingly steps in to fill it,” said Ciccarelli. And when it comes to festivities on campus, Hernandez leans into the fun of Marlborough's Pumpkin Day (the school’s take on Halloween). Recent costumes include Bloody Mary and the Incredible Hulk — he even dyed his hair green to complete the look.
