National Independent School Leaders Join NBOA Board

As you wrap up what I hope has been another successful year and develop your summer to-do list, NBOA is planning ahead as well. Part of that process involves identifying individuals within the national independent school

Jun 10, 2016

Ben Lewis, Senior Managing Director, TIAA
Waltham, Massachusetts
At TIAA, Ben is responsible for small- to mid-sized retirement plans, including those of independent schools. He has developed a deep understanding of and appreciation for the challenges facing independent school business officers. Moreover, he has a demonstrated commitment to the work and mission of NBOA and its member institutions through his attendance and participation in each NBOA Annual Meeting and Business Officer Institute since 2012.

Chuck McCullagh, Chief Financial Officer, Williston Northampton School
Easthampton, Massachusetts
Chuck has been an active member of NBOA since 1999. He has attended numerous NBOA Annual Meetings, the Conference on the Business Office and other events, and served as faculty at the NBOA Business Officer Institute on three different occasions, hosting the program at his school in 2010. Well-regarded by his peers in AISNE and ABOPS, he was elected to ABOIS in 2011.

Rose Neubert, Director of Finance and Operations, Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart
Princeton, New Jersey
Rose has led the business offices at two small schools and brings a strong understanding of the issues facing independent schools and associations alike. A member of NBOA since 2010, she has attended NBOA Annual Meetings for a majority of the last 14 years and attended the Conference on the Business Office for several years as the representative from NJAIS.

Kelly Sanderson, Vice President for Finance and Administration/CFO, Woodward Academy
Atlanta, Georgia
Kelly has been on the NBOA Business Officer Institute faculty twice, has presented at numerous NBOA programs and has been a contributing author to Net Assets magazine as well as to both NBOA guides to independent school business operations, "By the Numbers and Beyond" and "Welcome to the Jungle." Previously a member of the MISBO Board of Directors, Kelly has an extensive background in facilities management, is LEED certified and has served on several school accreditation teams.

As we welcome these leaders to the NBOA Board, we also say goodbye to a group of outstanding individuals who concluded their service this year. Their leadership and contributions to the association will benefit NBOA for many years to come. Our sincere thanks to Frank Aloise of Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, Bill Hodgetts of Garrison Forest School, Karen Illig of Pine Crest School, Steve Kierman of Windward School, Lisa Pullman of INDEX, and Mike Saxenian of McLean School of Maryland.

From Bottomline, June 10, 2016.
