2023-24 Program Outline

The NBOA Leadership Academy will develop current and future leaders in the independent school business office to help schools face their most pressing challenges. The program is a unique opportunity for independent school business professionals to enhance skills in collaboration, communication, evidence-based research and systems thinking, change leadership, consensus building and more that will complement their technical knowledge and expertise in financial and operational standards and regulatory compliance.

Participants will convene for monthly cohort learning via Zoom, each session focusing on a key leadership topic, as well as two in-person events: Leadership Academy Program in Nashville (October 2023) and the 2024 NBOA Annual Meeting in Atlanta (February 25-28). Experienced business officers with a track record of leadership professional success will serve as peer mentors. The Academy will provide access to a national network of independent school business officers and industry experts, as well as connections with the NBOA Board of Directors. Throughout the program, participants will enhance critical leadership skills and develop a clear understanding of their personal leadership attributes in order to maximize their strengths and fulfill the leadership role required to sustain their schools’ success today and in the future. The full 2023-24 programmatic schedule will be finalized over the summer, modeled after the 2022-23 program as outlined below for informational purposes, although subject to change.
