Hi, I’m Jeff Shields, President and CEO, of NBOA.
Like many of you, I’m working – and greeting you– from my home office, rather than the NBOA offices in Washington, DC, to provide you with an important program update. But first, allow me to share that I hope all of you, your families, and your school communities are safe and healthy during this very difficult time for all of us and our country.
Like your schools, NBOA has been having many discussions regarding alternate ways to deliver our mission in the current environment and how best to provide our national and international member schools with the programs, products and services you have come to expect from NBOA, while also prioritizing the health and safety of our membership and the NBOA staff.
With this in mind, and with considerable thought and discussion with the NBOA Board of Directors, we have reached the conclusion that we cannot deliver the 2021 NBOA Annual Meeting in person in New York City next February. For those of you who attend the NBOA Annual Meeting every year, and those of you who were planning to join us for the first time in 2021, we share your disappointment.
Even as I speak, the NBOA staff, supported by volunteers serving on the Annual Meeting Program Advisory Committee, have begun planning the 2021 NBOA Annual Meeting – An All-Virtual Experience!
We are committed to providing you inspiring speakers, peer and expert presenters, networking connections, recognition of your colleagues, and opportunities to engage with our NBOA business partner community, in a best-in-class online environment.
Community is an important aspect for all professional associations like NBOA, and I know how important it is for you to connect with each other, exchange ideas, and share solutions, with colleagues that understand the value of your work, speak the same language, and support your professional success. The 2021 NBOA Annual Meeting will offer all of this in a virtual environment.
I’ve said many times before, the collegiality of the NBOA community is like no other. And, like many of you, in times of considerable challenges, I have come to appreciate our community even more.
So please take advantage of the numerous NBOA resources we have available at NBOA.org, including, first-in-class resources to help you respond to the evolving COVID-19 crisis, and turn to the vibrant national brain trust that is available to you only on NBOA Connect. We will get through this.
Thank you for your membership with NBOA and for your continued support of your professional association.
I look forward to seeing you online in February 2021. Thank you.
