John Buckley

John Buckley, CPA

John Buckley has been successfully serving AAF clients for over 20 years. He is AAF’s Educational Services Division Leader, which includes services to independent schools, charter schools and Charter Management Organizations (CMOs), colleges, education services organizations, Chapter 766 schools, and other educational institutions. Buckley has extensive experience with the audits of diverse associations, educational institutions and other community-based agencies. He specializes in working with nonprofit organizations that are subject to federal, state and other regulatory requirements.

Aaron Lundberg

Aaron Lundberg

Aaron Lundberg serves as president and CEO of Praesidium. In this capacity, he works with leadership of large-scale human service organizations across the United States to develop, implement and monitor abuse prevention policies and training programs. Lundberg supervises Praesidium's team of account managers and has trained thousands of direct care workers, supervisors, administrators and parents in preventing the sexual abuse of children and vulnerable adults. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Texas Tech University and a master's degree in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Susan Schorr

Susan Schorr

Susan Schorr is an of counsel attorney in McLane Middleton’s litigation department where she finds solutions to legal questions and challenges faced by independent schools and social service organizations, and conducts investigations when serious misconduct is alleged. In the independent school context, Schorr works with clients nationwide and is particularly experienced in counseling senior leaders on parent, child and institutional relationships and conflicts, conducting investigations in response to reports of sexual abuse and other serious misconduct, and updating policies and protocols with a focus on risk management and compliance. Prior to joining the firm, Schorr was of counsel at Tennant Lubell and helped to grow the independent school education practice at Schwartz Hannum PC. She received her B.A. in English from Yale University, MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work, MPA from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and her J.D. from Boston College Law School.

Charla Stevens

Charla Stevens

Charla Stevens is the Chair of the firm's Employment Law Practice Group and also practices in the Education and Health Care practice groups at McLane Middleton. She has extensive background addressing litigated and non-litigated employment issues such as discrimination, harassment, employee classification and wage and hour claims. Stevens assists employers in responding to labor audits, preparing personnel policies and minimizing risk in the hiring, discipline and termination of employees. She regularly advises independent schools regarding risk management and policy writing with respect to issues involving both students and employees. Stevens received her J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School and her B.A., from Merrimack College.

Howard Teibel is president of Teibel, Inc. For nearly 30 years, Teibel has partnered with higher education leaders to help them thrive in this new economy. He and his team facilitate team-building and leadership programs, strategic planning events, and administrative and academic reviews. His vision is that education leaders deal with the brutal facts of this industry while building a positive case for change.

John Toscano

John Toscano, CPA

John Toscano is a partner with CohnReznick’s Not-for-Profit and Education Industry Practice. With more than 25 years of experience. His primary focus throughout his career has been in serving educational institutions and in providing specific expertise in endowment-related matters. Toscano developed this focus through years of hands-on involvement with each of his clients and regularly provides guidance on investment and endowment accounting and reporting including alternative investments, financial statement presentation, accounting software use and implementation, Form 990 compliance, unrelated business income, budgeting and internal financial reporting and corporate governance. Prior to joining CohnReznick, Toscano was a partner with a local firm where he was director of its Not-for-Profit and Manufacturing Industry groups. He has a BS in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.

Jennifer Hillen

Jennifer Hillen

Jennifer Osland Hillen, CPA, CGMA, is NBOA's Director, Accounting and Tax Programs. In this position, she plays an integral leadership role in the development and delivery of tax and accounting content. She also serves as liaison to the controller community and NBOA member accounting and audit firms. Hillen comes to NBOA from Harpeth Hall School, where she served as the associate director of finance and operations, following seven years of prior service as controller and manager of accounting. Prior to joining Harpeth Hall, Jennifer was a lead senior auditor with Ernst & Young.

Grace Lee

Grace Lee

Grace Lee is NBOA's vice president, legal affairs. Lee is an independent school law attorney who specializes in employment law and human resources issues. At NBOA, she provides guidance and oversight of association resources and programs in the areas of employment law, risk management and other compliance and regulatory matters that impact independent school operations. Lee holds a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, and a B.A. from Northwestern University.
